My Final Piece
My final piece will be very much influenced by the photographers we have studied, as well as a further few who I have decided upon due to my own personal interests. It will hopefully be presented on an A1 board which will be just one sided, as well as having (using gel medium to transfer) an image or two on some glass panels.
The first and main influence for my piece will be Jackson Pollock as I'm passionate about his art and technique and want to use it to give an expression to the photo's and my piece. The influence of drip painting and the way in which it can be interpreted to mean something different with each persons view can give a piece more depth and a deeper creation that the basic display. Jackson Pollock's influence will be shown in both my photo's and on the display of the whole piece, the drip painting technique will also be used on the back of the glass panels to give the photo transferred on a new layer without taking away from the image itself. From Pollock I will also explore John Squire's early work, which was heavily inspired by Pollock and was predominantly created for Squire's band at the time The Stone Roses. This is where the use of lemons will be interpreted into the piece as they not only represent The Stone Roses but also natural forms which is the theme of this whole first unit. The lemon will be photographed with a macro lens to get an extreme close up shot and the capture the detail the texture and shapes of the citrus fruit, it will then be edited to portray different photographers, for example I will apply a monochrome filter to give a Blossfeldt effect and I will make the colours more vibrant and strong to create a Heine inspired piece. The background of the board will be covered in ripped newspaper as this shows a link to Michelle Caplan and her vintage/ old school portrait technique.
